Middle-earth is the central setting of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, depicted in works such as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is a richly detailed world of diverse lands, peoples, and cultures, inhabited by Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, Men, and many other beings. The history of Middle-earth spans thousands of years, marked by epic struggles between good and evil, most notably against the Dark Lord Sauron. Themes of friendship, courage, loss, and the corrupting power of ambition are woven into its stories, making Middle-earth one of the most influential and enduring fantasy settings ever created.

Beleriand was a vast region in the northwest of Middle-earth during the First Age, the main setting of The Silmarillion. It was home to Elves, Men, and Dwarves, and the stage for the great wars against Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. Many of Tolkien’s most tragic and heroic tales—such as those of Beren and Lúthien, Túrin Turambar, and the Fall of Gondolin—took place there. By the end of the First Age, most of Beleriand was destroyed and sank beneath the sea, surviving only in memory and legend.
