The Heroes of Ice and Fire 4: The Hooded Man

The Hooded Man

The Hooded Man is a legendary figure from the Age of Heroes from whom House Banefort claims descent. His visage is present in the hooded sigil of the family.
There are a lot of legends about him and his identity in the Westerlands, many of whom say, that he took from the rich and gave to the poor. Why this man hooded himself is open to speculation among the scholars of the Citadel. Some claim, he half his face was disfigured or burned (a reason for the circle of fire depicted on the Baneforts’ sigil), others suggest he was a low-born peasant who didn’t want to be known and happened to be at the wrong places at the right time. There is even a story of him actually being a girl called Robin, trying to act as a man, but that seems only conjecture.
