The films below were commissioned by different musicians and bands. Most of the videos are adverts for function bands or trailers that show the variety of styles of the respective groups.
Some of my additional film jobs included other music videos or short films, but there were also 150 (!) tutorial-videos for a music school or the filming of classical or concerts.
Sky and Sand
It all started with a lot of passion. A few musicians from Dresden wanted to do a cover version of a 2008 techno-hit by German DJ Paul Kalkbrenner. Weeks of work. Studio arrangements. Mixing. Editing. Asking small labels about radio release. A music video. Nights spent in front of PCs without any commercial interests. Real passion of music lovers.
Phonecalls from lawyers. Release prohibition. Threatening lawsuits. Legal finickinesses to define, if this was a cover or a readaptation (which makes a HUGE legal difference). Real passion of nitpickers.
And just so the world knows about it: here’s the video.
Tango, salsa, samba or bossa nova – the musical magic of Trio Milón is breathtaking. The ensemble is inspired by classical as well as Latin-American
The video was shot in March 2015.
Wolfgang Torkler – Above the Sea – CD-Release Concert
Wolfgang Torkler has studied jazz piano and composition at university. After graduation, further postgraduate studies and achieving master class he went to the »Berklee College of Music« in Boston (USA) and continued studying jazz and film music.
I filmed his solo concert in November 2014 in Dresden, Germany.
Tumba-ito Anniversary Concert
The Latin-band tumba-ito has been an essential part of the German music scene and since their 2004 concert in Cuba (together with “Buena Vista Social Club”) they have been well-known among an international audience. Tumba-ito interpret famous Latin music classics in Spanish and Portuguese, which adds to their charm and authenticity as a band.
In April 2015 they celebrated their 20th band anniversery and gave this concert in a theatre in Dresden, Germany.
While studying in Dresden, Germany, the three musicians Tilman Droste (guitars), Arne Rudiger (base) and Enno Lange (drums) started “The Shy Boys”, a trio which is well-established today.
The band’s repertoire includes mainly own compositions by Tilman Droste but also creative rearrangements of famous classics. Their music is a mixture of jazz, Latin-American music styles and something very unique as well.
This trailer was shot in September 2014.
